VK Ham Nets

Amateur Radio Operators love to talk, and local nets provide an opportunity for experienced and new operators to join in a group of fellow hams chatting and updating each other on news and recent events in their area.

Nets are held on HF as well as VHF/UHF bands at various times. In Australia there are far too many nets for me to list here, so this is a list of nets common to this area (or commonly used by hams in this area).

ALL TIMES are shown in Australian Eastern Time (standard or daylight), unless otherwise indicated.

21.185MHz USB Net: 04:00 UTC for check-in. 05:00 UTC for callbacks.

News Broadcasts

Each week the WIA broadcast news of interest to ham operators and shortwave listeners. Details of the broadcasts direct from the WIA can be found on their website here.

Our local Hunter groups re-broadcast these over local frequencies, often receiving “callbacks” after the broadcast (or after their own broadcast). Here are details of our local WIA re-broadcasts:

Hunter Radio Group

Callbacks: 3.593 MHz, 146.900 MHz and 438.025 MHz.
